Fans of White Lines are desperately waiting for a second season, however, it seems that things aren’t on the right side, as the fate of the show has just been revealed and breaking the news is none other than Daniel Mays, who plays the character of Marcus Ward in the show. The British Spanish mystery thriller series made its official debut on Netflix in May 2020, and the first installment featured a total of 10 episodes.
Ever since the finale of season 1 went down, fans have been waiting to hear from the team regarding the status of season 2, and finally, Daniel breaks his silence as he let the fans know about season 2 via his Instagram account.
Daniel came forward with the disappointing news, that contrary to fans’ beliefs, the show has been scraped off, and season 2 won’t be happening anymore. This revelation has been totally opposite to what the cast told us before. In a previous interview, the crew was very positive about season 3, and because of the show being on top of ratings, a second season seemed highly likely. The show got an approval rating of 63% and an overall score of 6.57 on Rotten Tomatoes, however, after the ending of White Lines Season 1, it became evident that the show was meant to be a limited series, so new speculations arrived, to which Daniel finally responded via his Instagram account.
He has been receiving several queries regarding all the latest developments that took place in the past few days, and he responded with a disappointing post that read that ‘the ship of White Lines season 2 has well and truly sailed.’ He went on to thank everyone involved in the project who worked hard as well as the fans who supported them in the amazing ride even if it was only for a single season. He ended by saying ‘So THANK YOU! Farewell Marcus………you were my favorite.’
White Lines revolves around a woman who returns to Ibiza to investigate the mysterious death of her brother, Zoe Walker. Zoe Walker, a renowned DJ from Manchester went missing in Ibiza, and it took 20 years to find his body. Her sister decided to return to Ibiza to find the real story behind Zoe’s death, however, things get extremely ugly the moment her investigation sheds light on the thrilling and dangerous world of dance clubs, and all that was happening in that place.
Although the White Lines Season 2 stands canceled as of now, fans still have hope to see it return sometime in the future on Netflix, or some other streaming service might pick up the rights and expand the story beyond what we have already witnessed.
We will keep you posted with all the latest developments, as soon as the team reveals anything new.
