Joel and Sheila Hammond from Santa Clarita Diet have a lot on their plate as of now and quite frankly, if Season 3 is the end of Santa Clarita Diet, then it’s not fair on us or the show. There’s just so much to do with the show and so many ends to wrap but more importantly, the show has a lot to live up to. Must warn you of spoilers at this point.
The Suburban real estate agent who’s actually a zombie, Sheila Hammond (played by Drew Barrymore) in the end came to an agreement with Joel (played by Timothy Olyphant) to turn him into a zombie. This particular moment was something that we all waited to happen. It was long in the making. So now both of them are zombies, and that makes one wonder, wait, but that shouldn’t be the ending of it. There’s more and more to explore and to do.
Victor Fresco, the guy behind Santa Clarita Diet, sees potential in the show to do Season 4 and Season 5. Victor said that he’s not ready to bid goodbye to the show yet. He sat down with The Hollywood Reporter and talked about the possibility of Season 4 followed by Season 5. He pointed out that Netflix is moving towards three seasons and out model for its original programming. So he spoke about his uncertainty if Santa will get another Season but sure hopes it does.
Netflix is taking time to announce Season renewals of various shows, like for example with The Umbrella Academy, Netflix announced the renewal news after a couple of months. Santa Clarita Diet Season 3 renewal news was announced on May 8, 2018, while Season 3 premiere just a couple of days after the renewal news, on May 23, 2018!
None of us can really predict what happens next. It’s a waiting game for now.
