Nurtured with love and wisdom by his unusual family, Will’s heart is filled with questions about his identity. Determined to find out the truth, he embarks on a journey to unravel the history of the undead and the ancient lands they reside in.
Along the way, he encounters the benevolence of good gods and the malevolence of wicked gods, learning about love, mercy, and madness. Will takes his first step towards becoming a noble Paladin.
The Faraway Paladin, which we’ll affectionately refer to as “Paladin,” is a series that changes the meaning of “isekai,” impressing many fans on multiple levels. The most praised element of this series is the absence of common and often found clichés in isekai anime.
Paladin is successful in avoiding the normal overpowered protagonist trope, and instead, gives us a slow burn of Will’s development under the guidance of three skilled mentors. This purposeful approach makes his character layered and also makes his journey worth the read/watch.
If you thought this was somewhat of a boring series, we suggest you move past the pre-conceived opinions and give the series a chance to show you why it’s so beloved. The attention to detail in character development, strategic battles, intriguing lore, and intricate world-building make it a standout anime worth a watch.
It’s no surprise why fans are desperately waiting for a second season.
