About Black Panther Wakanda Forever
Black Panther Wakanda Forever, the 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is Marvel Studios’ next superhero film based on its comic character, Black Panther. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures are its distributors who intend to release the film along with Marvel on November 11, 2022. This movie will be the final film in phase four in the MCU.
Ryan Coogler-directed Wakanda Forever is the sequel to Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther (2018). His sudden colon cancer death made makers helpless on who to cast as the next Black Panther. This delayed production further.
Black Panther Wakanda Forever: Cast
Letitia Wright as Shuri is the princess of Wakanda who played T’Challa’s sister in the first part. Lupita Nyong’o plays Nakia, who is Wakanda’s River Tribe undercover. Danai Gurira as Okoye will head Dora Milaje (all-female special forces). Winston Duke as a warrior, M’Baku, is the leader of the Wakanda mountain tribe. Angela Bassett, as Ramonda, plays the Queen Mother of Wakanda.
Other important characters are Martin Freeman (a CIA agent, Everett K. Ross), Tenoch Huerta (ruler of Talocan, Namor), Michaela Coel (Aneka), and Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams / Ironheart, the suit creator).
Black Panther Wakanda Forever: The Plot
The earlier movie was about the war of five African tribes over a vibranium-rich meteorite and the birth of Black Panther. This superhero amalgamates all the tribes (except the Jabari Tribe) into a third world, the nation of Wakanda, ruled by T’Chaka. Following his death, his son, T’Challa, returns to Wakanda to claim the throne. However, he is challenged by Jabari Tribe’s leader, M’Baku, in his coronation ceremony attended by his ex-lover Nakia, Okoye, Queen Ramonda, and younger sister Shuri. Baku is defeated.
This movie also includes T’Challa, Okoye, and ex-lover Nakia’s mission to Busan, South Korea. This aimed to bring back the stolen Wakandan artifact from a London museum. While doing so, T’Challa confronts Zuri about N’Jobu, who planned to share Wakanda technology to save Africans worldwide. However, T’Chaka kills N’Jobu on Zuri’s order.
And later, his American son Stevens becomes Killmonger, who kills Klaue and brings his corpse to Wakanda before the tribal elders claim the throne. T’Challa is badly injured and presumed dead during ritual combat with Killmonger. But he returns and fights back, killing Killmonger and thus resuming his throne.
In its sequel, following King T’Challa’s death, the leftover leaders will fight against the invading forces to save the Wakanda kingdom.
Who is the new Black Panther in Wakanda forever?
In the footage from the emotional trailer of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, its natives are seen attempting to cope with the loss of T’Challa. This is so relative because Chadwick Boseman’s fans are going through the same grief. His untimely death in 2020 was a loss of not just a hero but an actor who worked fighting his ailment.
In the trailer, Shuri is seen in her redesigned Black Panther suit, which hints at her lead role because being the sister of T’Challa, she is next to a superhero. But, Letitia Wright’s Shuri is less likely to be welcomed because of her controversial anti-vaccination sentiments. So, other contenders for the Black Panther role are T’Challa’s friend, Danai Gurira’s Okoye, and his ex-lover Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia, including the newbies Tenoch Huerta (as Namor) and Dominique Thorne (as Ironheart).
Nakia appeared in one of the first shots before Shuri and Angela Bassett’s Ramonda. However, Angélique Roché’s shared poster on Twitter displays Letitia Wright’s Shuri standing in the middle with Nakia to her left and Ramonda to her right. At the same time, the late Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther looks at them.
