Harry Potter Author JK Rowling Defends Woman From Controversial Tweets
Harry Potter author JK Rowling has been facing some unpleasant circumstances after supporting researcher Maya Forstater. Forstater has lost her job after she tweeted that a person cannot change his or her biological sex. Rowling showed immense support to Maya and stood with her and twitted that we should dress as we please.
What did Rowling say?
Rowling tried to spread a message that every person has the right to live a life of peace and security. A woman should do what she likes and can sleep with any adult who has consented her. Forcing women out of their jobs for being real about their sex isn’t justified. The support was shown by Rowling after Maya lost a court challenge regarding her termination from the job and was accused of using offensive and exclusionary language on twitter.
The judgment was made that Maya’s views were not compatible with human dignity and the fundamental rights of other people. Rowling’s support for Maya has drawn criticism from the LBBQT group and GLAAD. GLAAD said that Rowing had spoken something which is an anti-science ideology. Trans and nonbinary people are never a threat to women. LGBTQ head of talent Anthony Ramos also said about the issue that Rowling has talked about, something that does not agree with the basic humanity of transgender people.
Forstater’s next steps and Rowling facing criticism
Forstater has talked about considering the judgment with her legal team and will make more statements once there is some progress.
This is not the first time that Rowing has faced criticism. Last year she faced a lot of resentment for liking a tweet containing transphobic material and later denied that she did not do it intentionally. Her representative tried to save her by saying that maybe it is due to get the age that she made some mistake with her phone.
