What is The King: Eternal Monarch About?

The King: Eternal Monarch is about Korean Emperor Lee Gon who is the third in his dynasty. He is revered as a great and just king by his subjects, however, not everything is as clear and nice as it seems on the surface. Yi Gon has a wound in his heart that he hides behind his flawless appearance and personality. Back when he was just eight years in age, his father was assassinated in front of his very own eyes during a coup attempt.

Instead of tending to his kingdom, Emperor Lee Gon prefers to attend university conferences and lectures. While attending one such event, he gets transported into a parallel world where he crosses paths with South Korean detective Jung Tae Eul.

The Devil that was released upon the human world is the reason behind Emperor Lee Gon’s mysterious transportation to the parallel world. The Devil poses the questions that whether or not he lived a good life in his world, and if he could live a better one in the other world. The door to this parallel world must be closed, and Emperor Lee Gon tries to do just that.
