According to the creator, Mike Pondsmith, now that Keanu Reeves is a part of the game, an upcoming film based on Cyberpunk 2077 is “much more of a possibility.”
In the interview with VGC, Mike Pondsmith said he can’t say anything on movie rights, however, now, that Keanu is a part of the team, the chances of having a future movie is very much possible. He added about the franchise being built up to a ‘sweet spot’ in terms of plot and action which could be appealing to other loving movies.
He continued that Blade Runner was his favorite movie and he realized that it was a cerebral movie and 2049 was even more cerebral. He then explained about a cerebral film, and he feels that Cyberpunk has hit that ‘sweet spot.’
