The movie’s performance
The adaptation was in development mode since 2000 and was released almost 20 years later. However, it didn’t perform exceptionally well at the box office. It didn’t blast the box office but gave the same profits to 20th Century Fox. It also brought with itself positive reviews from fans and critics. After the movie was released, Disney bought 20th Century Fox, and now the future of the sequel is not known.
Producer Jon Landau said that there are high chances for part 2 of the movie. However, he couldn’t confirm if they were working on the sequel. He said,
“What I think the Alita Army should do is keep peppering our family now at Disney and [let them know] how important it is to have another Alita movie, and hopefully we’ll venture there one day.“
Even though confirmation hasn’t been received, we can still hope for a part 2 of the movie. The big fan base is huge and is known as the “Alita Army.” Salazar has also shown interest in returning to the movie.
Disney has shown positive signs for continuing Fox’s R Rated movies. The first part of the movie also received a PG-13 rating, so there is hope to see profits for a second movie. However, Disney has its projects to focus on will is definitely the favorite of the fans. For now, we can only wait and see what Disney plans to do regarding the sequel of Alita: Battle Angel.
