Unlike earlier releases, this movie was a standalone feature-length production and not part of the Toei Anime Fair. It made history as the first Japanese film to screen in IMAX Digital Theaters. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods was a key addition to the official Dragon Ball storyline, set during the manga’s time skip in chapter 517, with creator Akira Toriyama deeply involved in its production.
