Whiskey Cavalier Season 2: Reasons Behind The Cancellation
Whiskey Cavalier is one of the shows that won’t be returning for its net season on ABC. ABC decided that they will cancel the action series after its first season. The star this show was Lauren Cohan and Scott Foley as the leaders of an inter-agency spy team.
The show made its debut in the midseason and was popular. In May, ABC said that Whiskey Cavalier would not be back. Karey Burke, ABC Entertainment president explained why the show got canceled, and she said:
“It was a tough decision (talking about Whiskey Cavalier). It was the last decision we made. We thought we gave it a very strong launch in spring. But we lost the audience (after the premiere episode). We felt the biggest opportunity was to try something new. We looked for other time slots but did not see a real opportunity to grow.”
This shows that rating was a very important role in the decision, and Karey Burke says that after Whiskey Cavalier’s launch, it lost viewers, she mentioned of trying “something new.” Deadline said that The company revealed that they are going to go with a new drama Emergence instead of the second season of Whiskey Cavalier.
Moreover, Karey Burke said ABC considered switching up its schedule for the show. Even though Whiskey Cavalier got canceled by ABC but there is still hope for it as it might get picked by someone because the action-adventure series is currently getting shopped around.
