The vision was to replace war with peace and tyranny with prosperity in the new Meiji era. Despite the prohibition of swords, streets still witness bloodshed, and war veterans’ orphans are abandoned.
The government reaps all benefits while the people suffer. Amidst this, the lone ronin Kenshin Himura, once feared as Hitokiri Battousai aims to validate the sacrifices of that era. He, who was once the deadliest of revolutionaries, is now burdened with the weight of his past misdeeds. Vowing never to kill again, he seeks redemption and a future free from violence.
In the 11th year of Meiji, Kenshin encounters Kaoru Kamiya, a dojo owner targeted by a series of murders attributed to her establishment. The culprits claim affiliation with the infamous Battousai. Kenshin’s roving life pauses as he teams up with Kaoru to vindicate both their names.
But history remains, raising the question of how long he can escape his past. In this blend of honor, danger, and atonement, the story of Kenshin unfolds.
If you’re a history fiction nerd or love action-packed showdowns or intricate character development, then Rurouni Kenshin is your cup of tea. Join Kenshin on his journey for redemption, and prepare to be immersed in a world where honor and justice intertwine with every swing of the punishing blade.
