Hollywood has some amazing Indie Films, which are liked by many despite their budgets and production houses. And, today we are going to talk about some of the best Indie movies ever made.
We all are fans of the big production movies, whether it’s Avengers or Avatar, big movies, big collection, and a big budget. Indeed, they give out a fancy vibe, but, Indie films have their own fanbase. Moreover, the realistic-ness and storyline in Indie films are their essences. Some of these movies impress the audience beyond their expectation. I know, I am a big fan, so, I am going to fangirl about it today in this article. However, I can’t keep all of this information to myself, so, today, I’ll be sharing with you my favorite Indie films that you should definitely watch. Without further ado, let’s go ahead:
Donnie Darko (2001)Donnie Darko is an American Psychological thriller movie that came out almost two decades ago. However, it is still one of the best movies regarding the storyline and performance. The movie will take you on a crazy ride introducing you to some spooky scenes and mystery. Although it didn’t do wonders on box-office, Donnie Darko still managed to gain great reviews and ratings from around the world. With cast like Jake Gyllenhaal, Seth Rogen, and Drew Barrymore, you should definitely watch it. You can stream it online on Amazon Prime Video.
Stuck In Love (2013)Stuck In Love is a beautiful movie with terrific performances from the entire cast. The movie revolves around the life of a writer and his daily encounter with his teenage children after his wife leaves him. The movie takes a toll on the life of all the characters and portrays the meaning of their lives in a magical representation. For a rom-com, Stuck In Love does a pretty good job making it more mature and the movie stands firm on the subject of the storyline. You can stream it online on Netflix.
Lost In Translation (2003)Can we just take a moment and appreciate the gorgeous screenplay of the movie before actually talking about the movie. Set and filmed in Tokyo, Lost In Translation is a perfect example of what we call ‘aesthetic’. Apart from the heart-warming storyline, the meaning behind the movie is more pleasing. Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray along with the director, Sofia Cappola birthed one of the most fantastic movies ever made. It is a must recommendation, and you can stream it online on Netflix.
Juno (2007)Juno is a romantic drama where a misfit teen tries to get through her life after her unwanted pregnancy. Juno is a remarkable pregnancy-drama-comedy-romance-coming of age story which is a little different from your regular teen romance. The story follows the life of Juno who being an independent-carefree teenager somehow gets involved in the adult world after meeting her baby’s adoptive parents. Being one of the funniest comedy films, Juno phrases the term ‘Teenage pregnancy’ in a different yet wonderful way making it a heart stealer.
LadyBird (2017)Didn’t we all pass from that phase where all we wanted to be cool, hang out all day with friends, wanting all the freedom in the world? LadyBird showcases the life of such a teenager who is out in the world exploring things. But, she also faces a lot of ups and downs while living her life which later on helps her realize how things get done in life. Anyone going through or who has already lived adolescence will easily understand the movie. You can stream it on Netflix.
The Big Sick (2017)The Big Sick is a romantic comedy-drama movie that depicts the life of Kumail and his almost lost love. Based on the true story, the Big Sick is different from your normal rom-com and has a very fine depth to it. The Big Sick is edgy and funny but it will also take you to an emotional ride showing you the true meaning behind the film. The movie stars Kumail Nanjiani, Zoe Kazan, and Holly Hunter. You can stream it right now on Amazon Prime.
