Elton John Biopic ‘Rocketman’ – Ugly Side Of The Star And Release Date
Rocketman is to tell the story of Elton John’s life; the portrayal is done by actor Taron Egerton. In the trailer, you see a sweaty Elton John, grinding his teeth, walking into a rehab. It is Elton in the therapy room who objects his life experiences, and that’s how the movie begins. Egerton on his part decided to do the movie because of Elton’s life experiences (rehab and recovery) and his personality type that led him to have a certain kind of openness and candidness. Egerton described Rocketman as special because at times it was Elton who gave him the license to go and describe his ugly side in the movie.
Besides Egerton starring as Elton John, Jamie Bell stars as lyricist Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as his first manager, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother. Rocketman is directed by Dexter Fletcher, the same talent who finished the film Bohemian Rhapsody after Bryan Singer was fired from the project. Aaron Egerton wasn’t the first choice to play Elton, but Tom Hardy was supposed to play him. He opted out of the project due to scheduling differences.
Officially the movie has been described as a “musical fantasy,” and Elton’s journey has been described as “the fantastical human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years.” Elton John also acted as one of the film’s producers. Rocketman is an “R Rated” movie and has fans rife with speculation if Elton’s sexual life will be depicted or not.
Fletcher, the director, has refrained from calling Rocketman as a biopic. Sure it does trace Elton’s life but more than anything, it is a musical fantasy film and that they have recounted Elton’s life in a different color than what would have been like.
Rocketman opens in theatres on May 31, 2019 in the US, and the UK audience will be able to see the film on 24 May 2019.
