Created by the manga artist Tsukasa Hojo, City Hunter first burst onto the scene in 1985, making its way up the ranks of manga and anime series. The story revolves around the charming Ryo Saeba, a suave and skilled sweeper (a combination of detective and bodyguard) with a soft spot for beautiful women and a fondness for getting into trouble.
The anime film’ trailer previews the theme songs; the opening theme song, Whatever Comes, and the ending song, Get Wild (the series’ ending theme song), are performed by TM Network. A set of new cast and characters were previously announced as well.
Angie, voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, is a movie producer who came to Japan to shoot a movie about her cat but lost her cat in the process. She reaches out to City Hunter for his help. Shin Kaibara voiced by Kenyuu Horiuchi, is a mercenary leader who raised Ryō as a warrior as he had battle-fighting experience. Pirarucu voiced by Tomokazu Seki- A member of the “Wetworks” assassination team. Espada is voiced by Subaru Kimura- A member of the “Wetworks” assassination team.
The film will also bring back three characters from the “Cat’s Eye” anime; Keiko Toda voicing Hitomi, Chika Sakamoto voicing Ai, and Rica Fukami voicing Rui. Ryo Saeba is voiced by Akira Kamiya, Kaori Makimura is voiced by Kazue Ikura, Saeko Nogam is voiced by Harumi Ichiryūsai, Umibōzu is voiced by Tesshō Genda, and finally, Miki is voiced by Mami Koyama.
In the upcoming film’s plot, the mysteries surrounding the tragic death of Ryo’s former partner, Hideyuki Makimura, unfold. It will also feature Angel Dust, a drug that played a crucial role in the original series.
