The Plot of TenPuru
Akemitsu Akegami was raised with the belief that “no one can live alone,” and is now determined to prove his father’s twisted intentions wrong. The only thing he wants is to never turn out anything like his “creep” of a father, so he vows to live the life of a Buddhist monk and leave all impure thoughts behind.
This oath becomes almost impossible for him to abide by when he encounters a young woman, and the thoughts come rushing back.
In a hilarious turn of events, the temple he chooses to “devote himself to” is filled with women, including the young woman he bumped into before. “What’s a man to do?!”.
Worth a Watch?
If you’re a fan of old-school harem/ecchi anime from the 2010s and enjoy humour that’s borderline ridiculous, then TenPuru- No One Can Live on Loneliness- is just the show for you. This series follows Akemitsu, a college student trying to escape his womanizer family reputation by becoming a monk. But he finds himself entangled in a temple packed with high school girls. His mission? To pay off his father’s debt with his labor and, amusingly enough, his body.
The premise is zany, but it manages to pull off its humor with almost no effort. While the first episode might seem like mayhem, the following episodes focus on introducing the main characters, throwing in amusing jokes and gags to keep viewers hooked.
TenPuru is a show that knows exactly what its audience wants, a playful harem comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously, paired with top-notch fan service. If you’re up for a series filled with dumb, perverted, and comedic elements, TenPuru- No One Can Live On Loneliness is a must-try.
