The team behind the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM film unveiled the second promotional video, along with cast details and character visuals. The anime film is set to release in Japan on January 26, 2024. Set in Cosmic Era 75, the story follows a chronological sequence. Mitsuo Fukuda has confirmed that this film acts as a sequel to the second Gundam Seed TV anime, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny.
This film initiative is part of the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Project ignited campaign, which was started to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Mobile Suit Gundam Seed anime in 2022. The initiative includes other additions like a new Mobile Suit Gundam Seed game and the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Eclipse side-story manga.
In this iconic anime series, you’ll find yourself amidst the tensions between two factions, the Earth Alliance and the genetically-enhanced Coordinators. These two sides are locked in a relentless struggle for power and control. But that’s not all, because this isn’t your run-of-the-mill space opera.
Gundam SEED doesn’t just deliver intense space battles. It dives deep into the development of its characters. You’ll quickly get drawn into the lives of Kira Yamato, a reluctant hero, and Athrun Zala, a conflicted warrior. Their paths cross on opposite sides of the conflict, setting the stage for a wave of emotions, friendships, and betrayals, and we cannot wait to see what FREEDOM will bring us.

Amidst the chaos, a proposition known as the Destiny Plan emerges, aiming to impose predetermined roles on individuals and eradicate competition. However, as the war on goes, the Destiny Plan is rejected in favor of safeguarding humanity’s dreams and the promise of future freedom.
