Tales of Wedding Rings: Everything to Know
The anime adaptation of Tales of Wedding Rings is directed by Takashi Naoya and produced by Staple Entertainment. Deko Akao writes the scripts while Saori Nakashiki designs the characters.
Below are the character videos for Hime and Sato, respectively.
The cast includes Gen Sato as Satō, Akari Kitō as Hime, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Nephrites, Princess of the Wind kingdom Romka, Hitomi Ueda as Granart, Princess of the Fire kingdom Needakitta, Ai Kakuma as Saphir, Princess of the Water kingdom Maasa, and Mikako Komatsu as Amber, Princess of the Earth kingdom Idonokan.
The series, created by Maybe, began its serialization in Monthly Big Gangan in 2014. In the tenth manga volume, it was hinted that the series would extend a bit further. However, in July 2021, it was announced that the series would reach its climax in the upcoming issue of the magazine, released on August 25, 2021.
As of January 2023, Tales of Wedding Rings has been compiled into thirteen manga volumes.
The Plot
When Sato’s best friend Hime shares her plan to move, he makes a bold choice to follow her. However, things take an unexpected turn when he crashes her wedding in another world and finds himself unexpectedly at the altar, married to her after a sudden kiss.
This twist of fate takes Sato into the prophecy’s spotlight, where he must rise to the occasion as the Ring King, a powerful hero destined to save the world from the Abyssal King. Will Satou embrace this new role, or will his unconventional marriage meet a premature end?
Tales of Wedding Rings starts as another run-of-the-mill romance with a damsel-in-distress scenario, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised. This manga defies the typical harem tropes by taking a fresh and exciting approach to the genre.
One of the standout features is the unique power-up mechanism. The main character doesn’t rely on sudden, out-of-nowhere power-ups; instead, he must deepen his bonds with his wives, which I found to be a refreshing change from the normal harem stereotypes.
The story deserves a solid 9/10 for its unexpected depth and the fact that the main character doesn’t shy away from forming relationships early on. It’s not just a romance; it’s about gathering more wedding rings and expanding the harem, which keeps things exciting and dynamic.
The artwork shines with a 9.5/10 rating. The art is visually stunning, with well-drawn fight scenes and, of course, some tastefully done ecchi scenes that fans of the genre will appreciate, and which we hope to see in the anime.
