Prince William recently provided an update on Kate Middleton’s health. As the Princess of Wales continues her cancer treatment away from the public eye, William shared some details about her progress.
During a visit with veterans at the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Portsmouth on June 5, the Prince of Wales mentioned that Kate’s condition is improving. He added, “She’d have loved to be here today.”
In a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) on June 5, William remarked, “I was reminding everyone her grandmother served at Bletchley Park.
So, she had quite a few things in common with some of the ladies here who were at Bletchley.”
(Kate’s paternal grandmother, Valerie Glassborrow, worked at the historic World War II intelligence base, where Alan Turing famously deciphered the Enigma code used by Nazis for secret communications.)
It appears that William, who shares children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, with Kate, will continue attending events alone while the 42-year-old focuses on her recovery.
Kate is expected to miss the Colonel’s Review ahead of the Trooping the Colour Ceremony on June 8.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson informed on May 30, “This year General James Bucknall K.C.B., C.V.O will carry out the role of Inspecting Officer on behalf of HRH The Princess of Wales at Colonel’s Review as she continues her recovery.”
Although Kate has opted to face her illness privately, William reassured the public that she and the children are maintaining a positive outlook.
“All doing well, thank you,” the 41-year-old shared in April. “We’re all doing well.”
Kate also expressed gratitude for William’s support since she stepped back from her royal duties in March to concentrate on her health. “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family,” she said in a video message.
“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance.”
