Natalie Portman cherishes her experience on Bluey. The 43-year-old actress appeared on July 15 to promote her new Apple TV+ series, Lady in the Lake.
During the interview, host Hoda Kotb was surprised to find Bluey on the Oscar winner’s résumé. However, Portman revealed that her cameo in the season 3 episode “Whale Watching” is among her “most important” roles.
“I was a narrator of a nature documentary that they were watching,” Portman explained about her guest appearance on the popular animated show.
“It’s a very important show for my family and I was really, really honored to get to be part of it.”
Portman has two children, a 13-year-old son Aleph and a 7-year-old daughter Amalia, with her ex-husband, Benjamin Millepied.
“It’s so wonderful. It’s pure joy,” she added, referring to the series.
Portman lent her voice to the character credited as the “Whale Doco Narrator” in the episode “Whale Watching.”
In the episode, a whale documentary plays on TV while Bluey and Bingo pretend to play with their tired dad, who is lying on the floor.
As they engage in the game, their mom joins in upon hearing Portman’s character say, “Whales travel extremely long distances into warm waters to have their babies.
They stay with them all the way back to the colder waters. There’s nothing a whale mom wouldn’t do for her children.”
Portman joins a list of stars who have appeared on Bluey, including Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, and Robert Irwin.
Her appearance follows her 43rd birthday celebration in June. Portman expressed gratitude for her friends in an Instagram post on June 10, sharing photos with her pals and writing,
“This year, on my birthday, I want to celebrate my gratitude for my friends who lift me up again and again.”
The first two episodes of Lady in the Lake will debut on Apple TV+ on July 19, with new episodes released every Friday until August 12.
