A$AP Rocky is steering clear of rap feuds. In his recent interview with Billboard, the “Fashion Killa” rapper discussed his decision to largely stay out of the ongoing tension between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, despite seemingly alluding to it in a few lines on his recent “Show of Hands” track with Future and Metro Boomin.
“You have to understand, certain people have been throwing shots for years. I’m not getting in the middle of that mess,” A$AP Rocky, 35, told the publication. “That’s not how I’m choosing to respond right now.”
“I have bigger issues to deal with than some petty drama,” he added. “There’s real conflict out there. It’s serious. People are getting caught up and taken out every day. That minor stuff doesn’t mean anything.”
A$AP Rocky is also concentrating on his music, particularly his forthcoming album Don’t Be Dumb, which has been delayed.
He posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday, Aug. 22, explaining that “leaks & sample clearances are disrupting the album,” and apologized to fans “for the wait.”
Drake and Lamar’s high-profile feud has unfolded across multiple diss tracks in recent months, with Drake releasing songs like “Push Ups,” “Taylor Made Freestyle,” and “Family Matters.”
In response, Lamar dropped tracks such as “Euphoria,” “Meet the Grahams,” “6:16 in L.A.,” “Not Like Us,” and contributed a verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That.”
In Drake’s tracks, he took aim at Lamar, 37, accusing him of domestic abuse against his longtime fiancée, Whitney Alford, and claimed one of the “Humble” rapper’s children isn’t biologically his. He also questioned Lamar’s activism, among other allegations.
Lamar, in turn, labeled Drake a “pedophile” and “colonizer” in his songs, while also challenging his family relationships and his connection to the culture.
Other rappers, like Latto and Ice Spice, have shared their opinions on the feud, both expressing positive views.
“I won’t lie: I enjoyed it! I liked the back-and-forth,” Latto told. “I thought it was healthy for the culture. It felt nostalgic. I don’t think our generation has experienced a rivalry like that. I was into it.”
Ice Spice also chimed in during an interview, saying she found the beef “really cool,” adding, “I’m a music lover. So, I appreciate the sport of it…”
A$AP Rocky’s *Don’t Be Dumb* album is slated for release this fall.
