Wendy Williams has made her first public appearance in over a year. The 60-year-old television personality was seen on Monday, Aug. 19, in Newark, N.J., accompanying her son, Kevin Hunt Jr., at Bolingo Balance, a holistic store.
Williams shares her son with her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter. This outing marks Williams’ first public sighting since March 2023.
An employee at Bolingo Balance, a store owned by Victor Bowman, son of renowned herbalist Alfredo “Dr. Sebi” Bowman, described Williams as “sharp, upbeat and aware” during the visit.
The employee noted that she was “very bubbly” and engaging, although she was less familiar with the store’s offerings, with her son doing most of the explaining.
During the visit, Williams mentioned her interest in improving circulation but chose not to go into specifics on this initial meeting, expressing plans to return in the near future.
Bowman shared a photo of himself with Williams on his Facebook page the same day, captioning the post, “Wendy Williams come to my store, much love Queen.”
The store’s Instagram account also posted photos, with a caption expressing appreciation: “Much love to Wendy Williams and her son.” Kevin Hunt Jr. responded in the comments with prayer and success emojis.
Williams was last photographed publicly in March 2023 as she returned to her New York City apartment. Her final appearance on The Wendy Williams Show was in July 2021.
The show continued with guest hosts until its conclusion in June 2022, amid Williams’ health struggles, including Graves’ disease, lymphedema, and alcohol abuse.
Between her March 2023 and August 2024 outings, Williams’ team revealed that she had been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
In February, her sister Wanda Finnie and niece Alex exclusively told that Williams was not informed of her diagnosis after being placed in a facility for cognitive issues.
Finnie also mentioned that she had not received any updates on Williams’ diagnosis since the fall of 2021.
Finnie further explained that after Williams’ court-ordered guardianship began in April 2022, communication between Williams and her family became restricted.
In April 2023, court documents emerged detailing ongoing legal disputes between Williams’ legal and financial guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, and A+E Networks, the parent company of Lifetime.
The documents also referenced the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? and touched on the status of Williams’ controversial finances.
Following Morrissey’s March 2024 filing, Williams’ New York City penthouse was sold in May.
In July, she celebrated her 60th birthday, though a source told that her family was “rooting and praying for Wendy” and wished her well on her milestone birthday.
The source also noted that “Wendy Williams’s family is unable to speak on her current condition and location due to ongoing litigation and the fact that they have largely been denied contact.”
