Betty A. Bridges, an actress renowned for her roles in ER, 2 Broke Girls, and Good Times, has passed away at the age of 83.
Betty died at the home of her son, Todd Bridges, the star of Diff’rent Strokes, in Phoenix on Tuesday, August 27.
Her death was confirmed by her representative, Elizabeth Much. Betty had been in hospice care at Todd’s home when she passed away.
Todd, 59, honored his mother with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. One post featured a caption that read, “1941 – 2024 Betty Bridges,” over a photo of the actress smiling brightly.
Among the celebrities who left supportive comments on Todd’s post, Lenny Kravitz wrote, “Rest in power Queen,” while Yvette Nicole Brown expressed her condolences with, “Oh Todd, I’m so sorry for your loss!.”

Nearly two weeks after the television legend Norman Lear’s death at 101, the cause of his death was determined.
Todd, best known for his role as Willis Jackson on Diff’rent Strokes, later shared another post—a video montage featuring photos of his mother.
Set to the song “I Love You Always Forever (Acoustic)” by Everly Fair, the video showed Betty smiling with loved ones in both throwback and recent photos.
“So sorry, Todd. I’ll always love and miss Ms. Bridges,” one person commented. “She was so proud of you. She reconnected with me on Facebook a few years ago to let me know you were doing great.
She would occasionally check in with me. Wishing you all the best. I’ll always be proud of you. Love you, brother.”
Another person added, “I love that lady!!! So sorry you’re having to go through this, Todd.”
Betty’s acting career spanned several decades, with credits in iconic shows like Good Times, ER, and 2 Broke Girls.
She also appeared in 1970s shows like Police Woman, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, and Charlie’s Angels. Her television appearances extended to shows like Quincy M.E., Diff’rent Strokes, and Wonder Woman.
In addition to her acting career, Betty established herself as a Hollywood manager and acting coach. She co-founded an acting school, Kane Bridge Academy, where she later taught classes from her Los Angeles home.
She even offered free lessons to neighborhood children. According to reports, her students included notable actors like Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, and sisters Regina and Reina King.
Betty is survived by her son Todd and his wife Bettijo Bridges, her sons Jimmy Bridges and Zerondrick Hubbard, her daughter Verda Bridges Prpich, and 12 grandchildren.
