Drew Afualo and Pili Tanuvasa are engaged! The host of The Comments Section podcast, 28, shared the exciting news on Instagram and TikTok on Monday, Sept. 2.
Her longtime partner, a fitness and lifestyle coach, also took to social media to announce their engagement, with the engagement ring prominently featured in their photos.
“Ima marry tf out of you big dawg, @ptanuvasa,” wrote the author of Loud: Accept Nothing Less Than the Life You Deserve in her Instagram carousel.
“I cried so hard & for an hour straight yall im so deeply in love & happy it’s actually insane BYE) #SPEECHLESSSTAGRAM.”
In the first two photos of her post, the couple is seen with their eyes closed, embracing as Afualo proudly shows off her engagement ring while holding a bouquet of roses.
She kneels on a bed adorned with red rose petals, standing beside Tanuvasa.
Afualo also posed solo in one photo, placing her hand in front of her forehead to showcase the cushion-cut diamond ring while holding the bouquet.
Another photo featured the ring set against the romantically decorated bed, with rose petals arranged in the shape of a heart.
In her TikTok video on Sept. 2, Afualo, known for her outspoken stance against online misogyny and her signature laugh, responded to a comment that read: “7 years and no ring???? Girl stand up??!!!!!”
“Get into it, mama,” she said, laughing and flashing her ring at the camera. “Who needs to stand up?”
“I’ve been saying this for f—— years. There is no f—— timeline on dating,” she continued. “My man knew he was gonna marry me within the first month of dating me. But neither of us wanted to get married until we were ready.”
Afualo went on to say, “Thinking that a ring is gonna, one, make a man commit to you and two, make a relationship worth having is not only ignorant but misogynistic.”
She then addressed the commenter directly: “So, again I ask, which one of us needs to stand the f— up?”
Afualo shared that Tanuvasa had bought her a ring for her birthday in 2023, saying it would be for her “wedding stack.” She added that she didn’t pick out the diamond or pay for it, as Tanuvasa took care of that.
In his Instagram post about the engagement, Tanuvasa wrote: “From saying no to going to prom w/ me 13 years ago to now, jokes on you love lmaooooo.”
Afualo replied to her fiancé in the comments, saying, “U GOT MY ASS FR!!!!! I love you more than anything in this world, my person always.”
