“Bosch: Legacy” will conclude with its upcoming third season on Amazon Freevee and Prime Video.
The third season is set to premiere in March 2025. Michael Connelly, whose Harry Bosch novels are the foundation for the series, announced this on Friday via Instagram.
“It’s been an incredible journey with this character so far,” Connelly wrote. “There’s that often-used phrase ‘It takes a village,’ but I’ll say it takes a whole town to create a show like this.
We’ve had outstanding people at every level. Actors, writers, directors, producers, and all the crew have contributed to something special, and they certainly succeeded. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished.”
Connelly also praised series lead Titus Welliver, who began portraying detective Harry Bosch in the original series in 2014.
“He became the complete embodiment of Harry Bosch, which fueled ten seasons of magic. As the author of the books, I can’t express how fortunate I feel that he signed on.”
Connelly’s full message is included below.
Thus ends Amazon’s longest-running scripted series to date. “Bosch” became a cornerstone of the e-commerce giant’s streaming efforts, running for seven seasons before “Bosch: Legacy” premiered in 2022.
While the original show aired on Prime Video, “Legacy” has been available on Freevee, with its final season set to air on both platforms.
“Bosch: Legacy” is produced by Fabel Entertainment, with Connelly, Eric Overmyer, Tom Bernardo, Henrik Bastin, Pieter Jan Brugge, and Welliver serving as executive producers.
The Bosch universe will continue, however. Amazon has already approved a spinoff series focusing on cold case detective Renee Ballard, another character from Connelly’s novels. Maggie Q will star as Ballard.
“For ten years, ‘Bosch’ and ‘Bosch: Legacy’ have been two of our most defining series for Prime Video, Freevee, and Amazon MGM Studios,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios.
“They demonstrate the lasting impact of the storytelling universe Michael Connelly created for fans.
We are proud of the impact these series have had and are excited that Michael, Titus, Henrik, and the creative team have more captivating stories to tell in the ‘Bosch’ world with the final season of ‘Bosch: Legacy,’ our new Ballard series, and more to come.”
“All great things must end, and great is exactly what ‘Bosch’ and ‘Bosch: Legacy’ have been,” Bastin added.
“Over the past decade, serving as executive producer for these remarkable shows has been a tremendous honor.
Playing even a small role in bringing Michael Connelly’s iconic characters to the screen, and witnessing Titus Welliver bring Harry Bosch to life, will always be a career highlight.
The Connelly universe lives on, and with Renée Ballard coming to Prime Video soon, I am confident that fans of the ‘Bosch’ universe will be thrilled with what’s ahead.
To everyone who has been a part of this journey—the amazing cast, the best crew, and the team at Fabel Entertainment—you are the ones who made it all possible.
My deepest thanks go to Amazon MGM Studios for being such outstanding partners. We truly appreciate the incredible run! And finally, Michael, thank you for your trust and friendship. I am deeply grateful.”
