Donald Glover has officially canceled the remaining dates of his Childish Gambino concert tour across North America and Europe, citing the need for surgery and recovery time.
This announcement follows a previous postponement of his North American shows, which had been part of what Glover has called his “final” tour under the Childish Gambino moniker, as he plans to retire the name.
“After my performance in New Orleans, I went to a hospital in Houston to get checked for a condition that had become noticeable.
Following an evaluation, it was clear I wouldn’t be able to perform that night, and further tests revealed I couldn’t continue with the rest of the U.S. tour within the given timeframe. I now have surgery scheduled and need time to heal,” Glover shared on X.
He continued, “My recovery is something I need to take seriously. With that in mind, we’ve made the tough decision to cancel the rest of the North American tour as well as the U.K. and European dates.
Refunds will be available at the original point of purchase. I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform, but for now, I appreciate your love, privacy, and support.”
Glover has not provided specifics regarding the reason for his hospitalization or the nature of his surgery.
While the North American, U.K., and European tour dates have been canceled, he did not mention if the shows planned for New Zealand and Australia in January and February 2025 would be affected.
The “New World” tour is part of what Glover has called the final project from his Childish Gambino persona, which also includes his latest album Bando Stone and the New World, a forthcoming film by the same name, and a re-release of the 2020 album 3.15.2020 under the new title Atavista.
