Production on Selling Sunset season 9 is officially underway, and Chelsea Lazkani is already stirring up some drama with her costars.
On Monday, December 2, Lazkani, 31, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her frustration, writing, “Going back to film with some of those dusty woman [sic] is stressing me outtttttttttt.” A fan responded, jokingly asking if she needed an assistant, to which Lazkani replied with a laughing face emoji.
She followed up her tweet with a humorous comment about how her castmates might react, writing, “Selling Sunset S9 Episode 1 – Chelsea called us dusty on twitter – gtfoh.”
Netflix had renewed the popular reality series shortly after season 8 premiered on September 6. The show focuses on the employees of The Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles as they sell high-end real estate while navigating personal and romantic drama. As with any reality show, the cast’s interpersonal conflicts and feuds are a central part of the narrative.
Season 8 was particularly challenging for Chelsea, as it focused heavily on the breakdown of her marriage to Jeff Lazkani. In March, it was confirmed that Chelsea filed for divorce from Jeff, 40, after seven years of marriage. They share two children: son Maddox, 5, and daughter Melia, 4.
On the show, Chelsea’s costar, Bre Tiesi, was informed by her friend Amanda Lynn that Jeff had been seen getting close to another woman. Chelsea was upset that this information was shared on camera, leading to a significant amount of tension between her and Tiesi, 33.
Chelsea later accused Bre of being aware of the cheating rumors and orchestrating the reveal for the show. “Outside of filming, Amanda contacted Bre about ‘tea’ – while filming, Bre orchestrated a fake call during her showing which ‘led to a sit down scene with Amanda,’” she wrote on X in September.
“In other words: she set this scene up with production, already knowing said tea to bring it to tv.” (At the time, Tiesi did not address Chelsea’s comments on social media.)
In an exclusive interview in October, Chelsea admitted she wasn’t sure how she made it through season 8. “But being on the other side, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, I am so glad to be here,’” she said. “Because I didn’t think I’d be here at all, to be honest.”
Although Chelsea was dissatisfied with how her marital issues played out on the show, she felt it was important to push through for her fans. “We have tens of millions of people watching us. We have little girls who look just like me and who depend on me to make it through hard times.
How dare I give up? Because if I give up then they’re going to give up and they don’t stand a chance,” she explained. “They already feel like I’m at the pinnacle. So I knew that even if I wanted to give up — and believe me I did — it’s not just about me.”
Chelsea also made it clear that she would not return if Amanda Lynn was part of the cast in season 9. “If Amanda was on the show, I think I’ve made it emphatically clear that I absolutely would not step foot in front of those cameras again,” she stated.
As filming for season 9 continues, an insider exclusively told last month that Chelsea is eager to finalize her divorce from Jeff as quickly as possible. In October, Jeff filed legal documents requesting to be declared legally single.
Netflix has yet to announce the official cast or release date for Selling Sunset season 9.
