Millie Bobby Brown may be the face of Stranger Things, but she has never been given the opportunity to watch new episodes before they officially debut on Netflix—including the highly anticipated fifth and final season.
“We haven’t done that for 10 years,” she said Monday night at the premiere of her latest film, The Electric State. “I don’t think they’re going to start on the last season.”
In other words, as she put it, “I see it when it comes out just like everyone else does.”
A release date for Stranger Things Season 5 has yet to be announced. However, in January, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that post-production was progressing ahead of schedule.
In The Electric State, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Brown stars as an orphaned teenager who embarks on a journey across the American West with a robot companion, searching for her younger brother (played by Woody Norman). Along the way, she crosses paths with a drifter, portrayed by Chris Pratt.
The ensemble cast also includes Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Jason Alexander, Ann Russo, Greg Cromer, Alan Tudyk, Holly Hunter, Tuc Watkins, Colman Domingo, Anthony Mackie, Hank Azaria, Jenny Slate, and Brian Cox.
Brown admitted that working with Pratt often made it difficult to keep a straight face. “He’s just very silly, and I am too, so that’s why both of our inner child are very much thriving with each other,” she said. “We’re like, ‘Woohoo! Let’s hang out.’ He’s such a girl dad, too, that we got along really well.”
Pratt echoed the sentiment, describing their dynamic on set as playfully uninhibited. “It gets incredibly silly. We had the freedom to be as silly as we wanted to be.
We were doing something that was really fun and light while also being dramatic. I think the dramatic stuff she has well locked. The funny, light stuff was kind of where we were living most of the time. It was pretty great.”
The Electric State premieres on March 14.
