Alexa Havins is set to return to the world of soap operas with a new role on General Hospital!
The 43-year-old actress will be joining the cast of the ABC soap as Lulu Spencer, the daughter of Luke and Laura Spencer, according to reports from Soap Opera Digest, TV Line, and Daytime Confidential.
Havins, known for her portrayal of Babe Carey Chandler on All My Children from 2003 to 2007, is expected to make her debut on General Hospital later this fall, as noted by TV Line.
In her upcoming role, Havins will play Lulu Spencer, a character who has been in a coma on the show since late 2020.
Speculation about Lulu waking up began circulating earlier this year, following an episode on July 19.
In that episode, Lulu’s ex, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna), and her mother, Laura Collins (Genie Francis), visited her in the hospital, urging her to wake up for the sake of their children.
Jonathan Jackson confirmed in June that he will be reprising his role as Lulu’s brother, Lucky. Havins will be taking over the role from Emme Rylan, who played Lulu from 2013 to 2020.
Rylan announced on August 7 that the role had been recast, expressing her disappointment but also stating that she was “glad to finally have closure” about the part.
Rylan succeeded Julie Marie Berman, a two-time Daytime Emmy-winner who portrayed Lulu from 2005 to 2013.
Havins’ latest soap opera role follows her appearances on shows such as Astronaut Wives Club, Grey’s Anatomy, Barry, Sweet Magnolias, and One Life to Live.
