Anne Hathaway humorously noted that Jeremy Strong seemed to channel his inner Mia Thermopolis from The Princess Diaries at the 2025 Golden Globes.
“Sweetheart, I’m not mad you borrowed it, but I didn’t totally realize you were going to change the col…,” Hathaway, 42, quipped on Instagram on Monday, January 6. “Anyway, not important, congrats on your well-deserved nom for The Apprentice!”
She paired the playful caption with a side-by-side image of herself wearing a gray bucket hat in the 2001 classic The Princess Diaries and Strong sporting a green version at the awards show on Sunday, January 5.
The two actors share a history as friends and collaborators, having worked together in 2019’s Serenity and 2022’s Armageddon Time, where they played husband and wife.
Strong, 46, made a bold fashion statement at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, donning a mint green velvet bucket hat and matching suit from Loro Piana. His ensemble included a white turtleneck, mint green sunglasses, a neutral wristwatch, and black shoes.
Accompanying Strong to the event was his wife, Emma Wall, who chose a more understated look in a sleeveless white floor-length gown that complemented the actor’s daring outfit.
Fans quickly shared their thoughts on Strong’s unique style. “Gotta say I love how Jeremy Strong always skips the boring black/navy suit and tie, never let ’em know your next move, king,” one fan commented via X, while another added, “I can spot this diva anywhere.”
Strong attended the Golden Globes as a nominee for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Roy Cohn in The Apprentice.
However, the award went to his former Succession costar Kieran Culkin. Other nominees in the category included Denzel Washington (Gladiator II), Guy Pearce (The Brutalist), Yura Borisov (Anora), and Edward Norton (A Complete Unknown).
Reflecting on his nomination after it was announced, Strong shared his gratitude in a December 2024 statement. “I was sort of prepared for the film to be overlooked, given the way it’s been going,” he admitted.
“So it is just indescribably meaningful to me that the Globes recognized the film on the grounds of its artistry and as a film.”
He elaborated on the challenges faced by the project, saying, “I think this has been a real battle from the get-go to get it made, but even more so to get it seen.
And to sort of convince the industry that it was worthy of being seen. It’s a human and archetypal story that could not possibly be more relevant or essential to the moment that we are living through.”
This marks Strong’s third Golden Globe nomination. He was first nominated in 2021 for Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his portrayal of Kendall Roy in Succession, a role that earned him the award over his costar Brian Cox.
