Nosferatu, a highly anticipated remake of the iconic vampire classic starring Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, and Nicholas Hoult, is currently in theaters but will soon be available for digital streaming. If you’re wondering when you’ll be able to watch it at home, here’s what you need to know.
Directed and written by Robert Eggers, Nosferatu made its theatrical debut nationwide on December 25, 2024. The official logline for the film reads: “A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”
This version of Nosferatu is a remake of the 1922 silent, black-and-white classic directed by F.W. Murnau and starring Max Schreck.
In Eggers’ rendition, Skarsgård plays Count Orlok, the vampire who becomes obsessed with Ellen Hutter, portrayed by Depp. Hoult takes on the role of Ellen’s husband, Thomas, a real estate agent who becomes involved with the decaying Orlok, only to discover the vampire’s deadly intentions.
According to the reliable streaming tracker When to Stream, Nosferatu could be arriving on digital streaming platforms soon.
While the studio behind the film, Focus Features, has yet to confirm the exact release date, When to Stream reported on Monday that Nosferatu is expected to hit premium video on demand (PVOD) on Tuesday, January 21.
This report aligns with the typical release window for Focus Features films, which generally appear on PVOD three to four weeks after their theatrical debut.
For instance, The Bikeriders, released in theaters on June 21, 2024, was available on PVOD by July 9, just 18 days later.
Similarly, Conclave, which premiered in theaters on October 25, 2024, arrived on PVOD on November 26, a little over a month later.
Once Nosferatu lands on PVOD, it will be accessible on various digital platforms such as Prime Video, AppleTV, and Fandango at Home.
Currently, Nosferatu is not listed for pre-order on these platforms, so pricing for digital purchases is unavailable.
However, based on typical digital pricing, viewers can expect to purchase the film for anywhere between $19.99 and $29.99. Digital rentals are usually about $5 less than the purchase price, so you can anticipate rental prices to range from $14.99 to $24.99 for a 48-hour viewing period.
