Brad Pitt believes he’s approaching the “last leg” of his acting career, but his reasoning might not be what fans expect.
In a recent joint interview with his Wolfs co-star George Clooney, the Oscar-winning actor clarified the meaning behind his previous comments about the future of his career.
“I meant that in terms of seasons,” Pitt said. “There was a time of moving out from the comfort of the Ozarks. You start something new, filled with discovery—it’s thrilling, interesting, and often challenging.
Then, once you enter the major leagues, it becomes a different game with new responsibilities and things to address. But it also brings opportunities, joy, and the chance to work with people you truly admire.”
Pitt, 60, further elaborated on his view of this phase of his life, saying, “And now we’re in this period. It’s about considering what these final years will look like. I observe my parents and what George described.
In your 80s, the body becomes more fragile. Yet, I look at Frank Gehry, who, at 95, is still creating incredible art and enjoying a loving family. I think that’s a key to staying creative and embracing life.”
The *Moneyball* actor and producer had previously told in 2022 that he was reflecting on what the concluding stage of his career might entail, as he feels he’s on his “last leg.”
Clooney noted that both he and Pitt are “fortunate” to be able to plan their futures, adding, “We’re in a profession that doesn’t force you into retirement.”
When discussing the fear of not receiving job offers as one ages, Clooney mentioned that there are “two ways” actors can approach it.
“The phone stops ringing if you decide to hold on to the character you were at 35 and seek a more flattering portrayal,” Clooney explained.
“But if you’re open to accepting less prominent roles and engaging in interesting character work, you have to come to terms with the inevitability of change.”
He added, “People often say, ‘Oh, you’re older than I thought.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m 63, you idiot!’ That’s just how life goes. As long as you can accept the idea of change, it’s manageable. The difficult part is when actors, including you [Pitt], struggle to let go and desperately cling to their past roles.”
