The cast for Black Mirror season seven has been revealed, and not only is it filled with stars, but it also features several familiar faces from past seasons of the Netflix show.
Here’s a complete list of the lead actors for the upcoming season, presented alphabetically:
Awkwafina (Jackpot), Milanka Brooks (Mum and I Don’t Talk Anymore), Peter Capaldi (Criminal Record), Emma Corrin (Deadpool & Wolverine), Patsy Ferran (Firebrand), Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers), Lewis Gribben (Blade Runner 2099), Osy Ikhile (Citadel), Rashida Jones (Sunny), Siena Kelly (Domino Day), Billy Magnussen (Road House), Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean), Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Issa Rae (Barbie), Paul G. The cast announcement dropped on Thursday, accompanied by a mysterious post on X (formerly Twitter), referencing Tuckersoft, an Easter egg familiar to fans of the series who recall the fictional tech company featured in several episodes of the Black Mirror anthology.
Returning for the new season are Milioti, Magnussen, Simpson, Brooks, and Ikhile, all reprising their roles from the Emmy-winning season four episode “USS Callister.”
This episode’s follow-up will be the first time series creator Charlie Brooker has produced a direct sequel in Black Mirror’s history. Additionally, Rashida Jones, who wrote the season three episode “Nosedive,” will make her on-screen debut this season.
Details about specific episodes and character roles remain tightly under wraps, as expected from the consistently secretive dystopian series.
Season seven is currently in production and is slated to return to Netflix in 2025 with six new episodes.
Here’s the official description of the upcoming season: “Charlie Brooker’s dark, satirical anthology series will return in 2025 with six brand-new episodes, including a sequel to the sci-fi adventure USS Callister.”
The concept for a sequel to “USS Callister” has been in development for some time. In a recent interview with *The Hollywood Reporter*, Brooker shared that the idea had been brewing for years.
“The way the first episode ends, you could easily continue the story and follow where they go next.
There were different versions we discussed over the years, but scheduling conflicts and the pandemic delayed things. For a while, it seemed like it wasn’t going to happen, so I’m thrilled that it’s finally coming together.”
At the time of the interview, no cast members had been confirmed, though Brooker hinted that the story would pick up where it left off, with some familiar characters returning and new ones being introduced.
“There’s new stuff to look through about where they’ve ended up compared to where they were,” he teased.
Produced by Broke & Bones, season seven of Black Mirror is created by Charlie Brooker, with Brooker, Jessica Rhoades, and Annabel Jones serving as executive producers. The series is distributed by Banijay Rights.
