Kelsea Ballerini is an enthusiastic supporter of her boyfriend Chase Stokes’ Netflix series Outer Banks, even though she hasn’t actually watched the show.
On Friday, October 11, Ballerini, 31, shared a video on TikTok ranking the characters, from Stokes’ John B to Madison Bailey’s Kiara.
In the video, she acknowledged that she wasn’t fully aware of each character’s storyline, which prompted several fans to encourage her in the comments to “watch the show” for better context.
Ballerini, who has been in a relationship with Stokes, 32, for nearly two years, responded to one fan, explaining that she doesn’t watch the show “because he and I have a deal!”
She added, “But I’ve seen so much of this season, and it’s badass. NO FURTHER QUESTIONS YOUR HONOR.”
Another follower humorously noted Ballerini’s struggle to differentiate between ranking the characters and the actors portraying them, writing, “The way you kept switching between ranking the characters and ranking the people playing them.” Ballerini stood by her efforts, stating, “What I do know… the new season is .”
Part 1 of Outer Banks Season 4 began streaming earlier this month.
The popular Netflix series introduces audiences to a coastal town in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, divided between wealthy residents and those from the working class. A group of teenagers finds themselves unwittingly at the center of a perilous treasure hunt.
During the filming of the first two seasons of Outer Banks, Stokes was in a relationship with his co-star Madelyn Cline, who plays Sarah. They broke up before filming Season 3 but have managed to maintain a friendly relationship.
“Mads and I have been working together now for 30 episodes, and we made a promise to each other before we even started dating that the work was always going to come first,” Stokes told in February 2023.
“No matter what happens in our personal lives, and how life sometimes takes you in different directions, we’re always going to honor the work. That remained true this season.”
Cline, 26, echoed Stokes’ sentiments in an interview stating, “We always said that the job remains untouched. Nothing else, personal or negative, will touch the job. While that’s not always easy, our job is to leave the show better than we found it, and I’m really appreciative of that.”
Stokes has since started a new chapter with Ballerini, and the couple has enjoyed showcasing their romance.
“The thing that we’ve decided, and to each their own, is when you’re with someone that you feel secure with and proud to be with, why not share it?”
Ballerini said in an interview in July 2023. “He’s also a Virgo; we’re both like Labrador Retrievers in human form. It doesn’t take much conversation to be on the same page. It’s been half a year, and it’s been great.”
Ballerini has also highlighted her friendship with Cline. In September 2023, Cline shared photos from the MTV Video Music Awards. Shortly after, Ballerini praised Cline’s stunning deconstructed Givenchy gown.
“You looked a ridiculous level of stunning, and I’m glad I finally got to hug your neck,” the musician commented on Instagram.
In reply, Cline hinted at their sweet interaction away from the cameras, adding, “So happy I got to squeeze you, gorgeous gorgeous girl.”
Outer Banks is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
