Australian rock band Cold Chisel is reuniting for a national tour to mark their 50th anniversary since forming. The tour starts in Armidale, where the band originated in 1974, and follows frontman Jimmy Barnes’ recent open-heart surgery.
Cold Chisel’s Big Five-0 tour will take them to major cities and select regional areas, offering fans a rare opportunity to hear their iconic songs live.
Frontman Jimmy Barnes, 67, considers the tour a priority after undergoing emergency heart surgery in December following a near-death experience due to a serious blood infection.
“The Big Five-0 is a landmark moment,” Barnes said.
“There have been plenty of times where I never thought I’d live to see this day so I’m going to make the most of it.
“I can’t wait to celebrate with my mates and with all the fans who have been such a big part of our story. We’re gonna smash it!”
Cold Chisel’s national tour is scheduled to begin in October, coinciding with the release of a best-of album in August, which the band will promote during the tour.
