Nicholas Sparks’ latest bestseller, Counting Miracles, is being adapted into a film at Amazon MGM Studios, starring Alan Ritchson, known for his role in Reacher.
In Counting Miracles, Ritchson plays a former Ranger who returns to his small hometown on a quest to find the father he never knew.
During his journey, he encounters a doctor juggling her responsibilities as a single mother of two, and a mysterious, reclusive old man with a hidden past. These unexpected connections lead him on a path of discovery and belonging.
The novel, published on September 24 by Random House, quickly climbed to the top of the charts, reaching No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. This marks Sparks’ 20th book to achieve this milestone.
Ritchson is not only starring in the film adaptation but is also producing the project through his company, AllyCat Entertainment, as part of his three-picture deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
Joining him in production are Dan Spilo from Industry Entertainment, Denise Di Novi of Di Novi Pictures—who has produced several other Sparks adaptations including The Best of Me, The Lucky One, Nights in Rodanthe, A Walk to Remember, and Message in a Bottle—Margaret French Isaac, and Sparks’ longtime producing partner Theresa Park.
Both AllyCat Entertainment and Di Novi Pictures have first-look film deals with Amazon.
Ritchson, best known for his leading role in Amazon’s hit series Reacher, which will return for its third season in 2025, is also working on the Netflix sci-fi action film War Machine.
In addition to Counting Miracles, Ritchson will produce and star in Amazon’s Prime Video holiday family comedy The Man With The Bag alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is also set to reprise his role as Aimes in the 11th installment of Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious franchise.
Ritchson is represented by WME, Dan Spilo of Industry Entertainment, Shelter PR, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
