Culpa Mía, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video in 2023, marks the first installment of a planned trilogy adapting the Culpables saga, originally written by Mercedes Ron on the social storytelling platform Wattpad. The second part of the saga, Culpa Tuya (also known as Your Fault), has now arrived.
This sequel picks up shortly after the first film and follows Nick and Noah, the central characters of the story, as they face a series of new challenges in their relationship.
Whether you’re looking to go into the dramatic moments of the film or simply wish to process its ending, this article offers a detailed explanation of how Culpa Tuya concludes.
What Happens in Culpa Tuya?
Much like its predecessor, Culpa Tuya centers on teenage step-siblings Nick and Noah, whose forbidden romance causes tension with their parents. While Culpa Mía explored the circumstances that bring the pair together, the sequel focuses on the challenges they face as they transition from their teenage years to young adulthood.
Their journey is marked by attempts from their parents to separate them, interference from vengeful exes, and a web of family deceit and betrayal. Culpa Tuya begins one year after the first film, following the death of Noah’s father.
We learn that after the tragic event, Nick was sent away to California for an internship at a law firm. Although he often thought about Noah, the distance between them prevented him from supporting her as she struggled with the emotional aftermath of her abusive father’s death.
When Nick returns, Noah is hopeful that their relationship can thrive, but this reunion ultimately signals the beginning of the end for them. Noah’s college roommate, Briar, has a complicated history with Nick that casts doubt on his loyalty.
Additionally, Nick’s mother, Anabel, approaches Noah with a manipulative plan, knowing that her son despises her and refuses to see her.
How Does Briar Factor In?
Throughout Culpa Tuya, we discover that Briar had a previous romantic relationship with Nick long before Noah entered the picture. The two were inseparable, with Briar often accompanying Nick on his illegal street races. One day, Nick crashed his car, seriously injuring Briar and leaving her hospitalized.
Instead of visiting her during her recovery, Nick abandoned her, moving on to date Noah shortly after. This betrayal left Briar deeply hurt, leading to her stay in a mental health facility as she tried to move past the trauma, which left both physical and emotional scars.
When Briar learns that her new college roommate is Noah—the woman who replaced her in Nick’s life—she struggles to suppress her resentment.
Eventually, Briar seeks revenge and contacts Nick’s mother, hoping to cause turmoil in Nick and Noah’s relationship. She introduces Noah to a man named Michael and attempts to manipulate her into cheating on Nick.
Anabel’s Tragic History
One of the most tragic characters in Culpa Tuya is Nick’s mother, Anabel. Initially, we learn only that she cheated on Nick’s father and left him to live with another man. This abandonment has left Nick with deep-seated issues, particularly concerning his relationships with women.
Noah, knowing how much Nick despises his mother, is shocked to meet Anabel and finds her to be kind and loving.
This revelation challenges everything Noah has heard about Anabel, which turns out to be false, the product of a campaign by Nick’s father and grandfather to keep her from inheriting the family fortune.
While Anabel did begin seeing another man during her marriage, it only occurred after she discovered that her husband had been cheating with Noah’s mother.
When Anabel sought a divorce, Nick’s paternal grandfather launched a vicious blackmail campaign to prevent her from claiming any part of the family wealth, and Nick’s father denied her shared custody of Nick.
Thus, much of Nick’s animosity toward his mother was based on a lie, something Noah believes Nick should eventually learn the truth about.
Things Spiral Out of Control at the Garden Party
Near the end of Culpa Tuya, the characters gather at an upscale garden party. This event includes Nick and his family, Noah, Briar, and, eventually, Anabel. Nick and Noah’s parents have invited Sofia, a young woman they hope will help break up the couple.
Unbeknownst to Nick and Noah, Briar has arranged for Anabel to attend, planning to reveal the truth to her son. After Briar opens a back gate, Nick is shocked to see his mother for the first time in years and immediately demands that she leave.
Although Noah is caught off guard by Anabel’s arrival, she urges Nick to listen to her mother’s side, which further strains their relationship.
Unfortunately, Nick remains unmoved by his mother’s story, unwilling to accept a reality that could shatter his understanding of his family. Anabel stuns the Leisters by revealing that she and Nick’s father had another child shortly after their divorce, even presenting a paternity test as proof—thanks to Noah’s help.
This revelation enrages Nick, who kisses Sofia in an attempt to placate his father and hurt Noah. After storming out of the party, Nick’s best friend, Lion, catches up with him and encourages him to reflect on the positive changes Noah has brought to his life. Lion reminds Nick of the good times he shared with Noah, prompting him to apologize to her.
What Comes of Nick and Noah’s Relationship?
When Nick returns to the party, Briar smugly informs him that Noah has already left. Nick quickly realizes that Briar has been intentionally sabotaging his relationship and demands an explanation.
Briar admits that she is still hurt by Nick’s abandonment years ago while she was in the hospital and reveals another painful truth: she was pregnant at the time but lost the baby during her recovery.
Before Nick can process this new information, Briar reveals that she sent Noah to Michael’s house, leading Nick to rush there in a panic. By the time he arrives, Noah and Michael have already slept together.
Noah feels guilty for her actions but confesses that she succumbed to weakness, seeking comfort from Michael in a moment of vulnerability.
Despite Nick kissing Sofia in front of everyone, Noah’s betrayal leaves him disgusted, and he leaves Michael’s house without saying a word. As Culpa Tuya ends, it seems that Nick and Noah’s relationship has come to an irreversible end.
While their parents may be pleased with this outcome, both Noah’s mother and Nick’s father seem disheartened by the result, leading them to reconsider their approach to their relationships with their children.
In the film’s final moments, Nick begins packing for a move to London, where he has secured a promising legal career, while Noah visits her father’s grave and begins to confront the trauma she associates with him.
For now, fans must wait for the third installment, Our Fault, to see how things truly unfold for the emotional young couple. Despite their parents seeming to have softened, many obstacles remain for Nick and Noah if they ever decide to reconcile.
