There are a lot of mysteries about Raymond’s abilities and background, but another puzzle popped up in the most recent chapter. During his fight with that ugly monster, Russel was struggling a bit, but of course, we expected our MC to win in the end. The cute and adorable Pepper also made an appearance in the chapter to help Russel with the fight.
That ugly monster really was a lot of trouble, but he went down anyway. However, even his charred skeleton went only after dropping some serious puzzles on Russel. We will see how Russel will react to it in Dragon-Devouring Mage Chapter 35.
The weird skeleton said something about Dariah and how he wondered if the son would be more interesting than the father. How did he know Dariah, and what does he want with Russel? We still have no clue, but of course, we are hoping to find out more in the upcoming chapters.
Russel was just a third-grade mage doing grunt labor to get by on a daily basis, but a blessing truly popped up out of nowhere. He was given a chance to re-do life and was also blessed with some amazing abilities. In this next life, Russel wants to accomplish more, and he is, of course, working hard towards achieving that goal.

Recap
In the previous chapter of Dragon-Devouring Mage, Russel’s fight with that ugly monster was still ongoing, and Russel looked like he was struggling quite a bit. The monster was huge for one, and he also had a lot of raw powers. Of course, Russel was trying to hit him with his magical powers, but it was not really strong enough to do much damage.
The monster was even gloating because of that, and he looked like he had a grudge against Russel Raymond, to begin with. Russel decides it’s best to take a step back and evaluate his strategy. The monster thinks he is running away, but Russel actually summoned pepper.
When the monster was distracted, Russel came out of hiding and attacked the ugly monster with fire magic that did look pretty strong. However, it still wasn’t enough to bring it down just yet, and it didn’t do enough damage.
The monster became agitated and a little cocky, asking if he really thought hat kind of stupid attack was enough to deal any damage. Russel did know that wasn’t possible, and he hit the monster with another powerful lightning attack.
The monster went down in a flash, and Russel finally felt relieved when he saw a charred skeleton in the monster’s place. He was way too happy about his win that he didn’t realize the skeleton was moving on its own in a creepy way. Then, it began talking nonsense about Dariah and Russel, which just agitated Russel more.
