Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley is heading into the 2025 Super Bowl not just as a player, but as a fiancé!
Barkley, 27, confirmed in an interview published on Sunday, February 2, that he recently proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Anna Congdon.
“I can’t be the athlete I am and have the success I have [so far] in my career without the help of her,” Barkley told the outlet, praising his “amazing fiancée.” “She’s been super helpful and always has my back, not only in football but throughout life—there’s a lot that goes on.”
He continued, “So, as we continue to grow and mature and go through life together, we continue getting closer and continue to get even better.”
Barkley and Congdon, 26, have been together since 2017. The couple welcomed their daughter, Jada, in 2018, followed by their son, Saquon Jr., in 2022.
“It’s a beautiful thing because we have two amazing children,” Barkley shared. “We just sit back and laugh sometimes when they’re over there playing and just smile, thinking about where everything started.”
After leaving the New York Giants, Barkley signed with the Eagles in 2024. Now, he is preparing for his first Super Bowl appearance after the team secured the NFC Championship title last month, earning a spot in Super Bowl LIX against the reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Saquon Barkley and Anna Congdon Celebrate NFC Championship Victory
Congdon and their two children were present to celebrate Barkley’s NFC Championship victory.
“If I could wrap my arms around this memory, I would,” Congdon wrote in an Instagram post. Barkley replied to her heartfelt message with a simple yet meaningful, “Love you.”
Following the Eagles’ championship win, Barkley celebrated with his family on the Lincoln Financial Field turf. Now, he is thrilled to take the field for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans later this month.
“I ain’t going to lie. I tried to downplay it in my head, but it’s amazing,” Barkley told sideline reporter Erin Andrews.
“It’s amazing we’re here, but the goal wasn’t just getting there. The goal is to win. We’re going to celebrate and enjoy this and get right back to work.”
A Love Story That Started at Penn State
Throughout Barkley’s NFL journey, Congdon has been his biggest supporter. The couple first met while attending Penn State University, a year before he was drafted by the Giants.
“Who would’ve known that acting a little crazy on this day would lead to the start of what we have!! You have taught me so much in such a short period of time,” Congdon reflected in a heartfelt Instagram post on their first anniversary in January 2018.
“Thank you for your wisdom, patience & understanding – you are truly one of a kind. Your love is never taken for granted.”
