Ellen DeGeneres is celebrating a significant milestone with her wife, Portia de Rossi, just days after news emerged that the couple has relocated to England.
“Twenty years ago today, we began this relationship, not realizing what a long, beautiful adventure it would be,” DeGeneres, 66, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, December 1.
“You are the best thing that ever happened in my life. You take care of me. You help me see the good in everything. You help to guide me and pick me up when I feel off or down. You are a beautiful soul, and I am so very grateful to have you as a partner to go through this crazy life with.”
The heartfelt message was accompanied by a sweet selfie of the couple posing in front of a lush, green countryside.
“My wife. My best friend. The love of my life. Thank you for being you and loving me,” DeGeneres continued. “I’m so happy we get to travel and explore the world together in the next 20 years. Looking forward to our first snowy Christmas.”
DeGeneres concluded her post with a lighthearted note: “P.S. for those of you concerned, our U.K. farmhouse did NOT flood.”
Her comment referred to recent reports that the couple’s home in England had experienced flooding. Several outlets had shared news of the alleged incident shortly before her anniversary post.
Last month, it was revealed that DeGeneres and de Rossi had left their Montecito, California, home and relocated to the Cotswolds, a picturesque region in the English countryside.
The pair, who wed in 2008, are reportedly planning to sell their California property.
DeGeneres was also recently spotted at Soho Farmhouse, a luxurious members-only club and hotel in the Cotswolds, frequented by celebrities like David and Victoria Beckham, Sharon Osbourne, and Simon Cowell.
“She was with two female friends, walking from the car park toward the farm buildings where the clubhouse is,” a fellow guest exclusively told.
“We passed on a stone bridge over a stream. She was dressed in a country-casual way, super understated, and no one was really paying much attention to her … but then you just don’t expect to see Ellen there, as it’s more a haunt of U.K. celebrities.”
Initially mistaking her for a lookalike, the guest realized it was indeed DeGeneres after hearing her speak. Another local shared with Us that DeGeneres is “definitely a lot less well-known” in the U.K. but still recognizable.
“People know who she is,” the source explained, “but the thing about the Cotswolds is no one gives a f— if you’re Kate Moss or the farmer’s wife.”
