Uncertainty has loomed recently over the production timeline of the next Fast & Furious movie, often referred to as Fast & Furious 11 or Fast X: Part 2.
Just weeks ago, Jordana Brewster, one of the franchise’s longtime stars, offered a less-than-encouraging update, admitting she was unsure when filming would start. “I don’t have a timeline. I’m usually — I mean, I’ll probably read it online, or I’ll try to, try to get some information out of Vin. [Laughs] But, no, I don’t know yet.
But hopefully soon,” she said. However, it now appears that Brewster—and fans alike—might have their answer, as Vin Diesel’s latest Instagram post hints that filming could already be underway.
Diesel has long been the franchise’s go-to source for updates, often using his social media platforms to share key developments. His most recent post features what appears to be a set photo of Dominic Toretto’s signature matte black Chevy Chevelle.
The car is flanked by a blue vintage vehicle on one side and a camera rig on the other, with crew members visible nearby.
While Diesel does not explicitly confirm that filming has started, his caption strongly implies progress: “The best thing about filming practical exteriors this morning… is all the beautiful memories of shooting the very first Fast.”
Given that the upcoming movie is expected to serve as the franchise’s swan song, many fans believe the film will pay homage to the original Fast & Furious. Diesel’s post seems to reinforce this idea and provide a solid indication that production is moving forward.
Another recent update about the movie came from Tyrese Gibson, who admitted he had yet to see a script.
“I haven’t read a script yet. I’ve talked to the director, I’m constantly in touch with Vin Diesel, and they do really well at keeping this franchise afloat…”!
Gibson’s comments had cast doubt on earlier plans to begin filming in 2025, but Diesel’s post suggests that those concerns may now be resolved, with production seemingly back on track.
What to Expect from Fast & Furious 11
This isn’t the first time Diesel has teased fans with hints from the set. In July, he shared a video of a truck loaded with three high-performance cars, captioning it with the tantalizing phrase, “We’re on our way…”!
The upcoming installment is expected to revisit the franchise’s roots, though plot details remain under wraps.
However, the movie is anticipated to be a grand reunion for its beloved characters and will reportedly include a heartfelt tribute to the late Paul Walker and his iconic character, Brian O’Conner.
The story is set to pick up where Fast X left off, addressing the dramatic cliffhanger while introducing a new villain to the saga.
As the franchise gears up for what may be its final chapter, fans can expect a mix of nostalgia and high-stakes action, hallmarks of the series that began over two decades ago.
