The upcoming Emmy Awards will take on a family vibe, with father and son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, co-stars of the Emmy-winning sitcom “Schitt’s Creek,” set to host the 76th ceremony.
“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” Eugene and Dan Levy shared in a statement.
“We’re excited to toast this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on Sept. 15.”
Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, praised the duo, saying, “Eugene’s and Dan’s comedic intuition and their unique ability to connect with audiences will make for a memorable Emmys telecast, celebrating this year’s best and brightest.”
The Levys follow recent hosts Anthony Anderson, Kenan Thompson, and Cedric the Entertainer in taking on the role.
“We’re delighted to welcome two generations of comedy brilliance to the Emmy stage as hosts,” said Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.
“Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they bring an incredible energy. I can’t wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for us.”
The Emmy Awards will air on September 15 on ABC and will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
