Warner Bros. has made significant changes to its film release schedule, announcing that Final Destination: Bloodlines will hit theaters this summer while delaying the J.J. Abrams-backed mystery thriller Flowervale Street until 2026.
Final Destination 6 is now set to premiere on May 16, 2025, taking over the slot previously reserved for Flowervale Street. The release for Flowervale Street has been pushed back nearly a year, now scheduled to arrive on March 13, 2026.
Although Final Destination: Bloodlines will be the only major studio release on its debut date, it will come two weeks after Disney’s Thunderbolts (set for May 2) and just one week before Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch (both scheduled for May 23).
In addition to these schedule adjustments, Warner Bros. acquired Animal Friends, a live-action/CGI hybrid road trip adventure starring Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, and TikToker Addison Rae.
Originally set to release through Sony in August, the film’s distribution was shifted to Warner Bros. for unexplained reasons. Animal Friends is now scheduled to premiere on October 10, opening alongside Disney’s Tron: Ares.
The studio has offered multiple reasons for these shifts and changes. Regarding Final Destination: Bloodlines, Warner Bros. cited May as an ideal time for launching genre franchises, referencing successes like A Quiet Place Part II, The Hangover, and The Fast and the Furious.
Similarly, October has proven successful for R-rated comedies like Jackass and Zombieland. As for Flowervale Street, Warner Bros. identified mid-March as a prime period for tentpole films, with recent examples including Dune: Part Two, The Batman, and Godzilla vs. Kong.
Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, Final Destination: Bloodlines marks the first new entry in the Final Destination series in 14 years, following 2011’s Final Destination 5. Since its debut in 2000, the Final Destination franchise has become one of the most enduring horror series of the early 2000s.
Known for its unique premise—young people narrowly escaping death only to die in bizarre, often over-the-top accidents—the franchise has amassed a total of $657 million globally across its five entries.
Flowervale Street features a star-studded cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, and Maisy Stella (My Old Ass). Directed and written by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows), the film carries a reported budget of $85 million.
Though plot details remain closely guarded, the timing of its release suggests that Warner Bros. is positioning Flowervale Street as a major blockbuster hopeful.
