The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree—another Eastwood is showing an interest in the entertainment industry.
“My son spent his fifth birthday on the set of Clawfoot,” Francesca Eastwood shared. “It was really cool because they got him a Transformers cake, and he got to visit. He was just fascinated by the whole experience. He has this incredible understanding of film.”
Francesca, 31, and her son, Titan, who recently turned 6, often bond over watching movies made by Francesca’s father, and Titan’s grandfather, Clint Eastwood. The legendary director is renowned for films like American Sniper, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Unforgiven, and more.
“[Titan] loves watching his old movies. He’s a huge fan of the Dirty Harry films. It’s great because many of these films I hadn’t seen before.
I get the chance to watch them now, as we didn’t really sit down and watch his older movies when I was growing up. We focused more on his new work,” Francesca explained.
She added, “Now Titan wants to be a director. He already understands camera shots, angles, and everyone’s roles on set. Seeing him develop this understanding at such a young age, and having this curiosity that I’m encouraging as much as possible, is really fun.”
Titan and Clint, 94, share a “lovely relationship,” Francesca noted, saying, “Titan’s at the age where he’s starting to realize that grandpa is a little more special to other people.”
With the Eastwood name, it seems natural to gravitate toward filmmaking. Francesca has built her own acting resume, with roles in M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, starring in Outlaws and Angels in 2016, and most recently appearing in Clawfoot alongside Olivia Culpo.
Her half-brother, Scott Eastwood, is also a successful actor, known for films like The Longest Ride and Gran Torino, which was directed by Clint.
As a mother, Francesca is fully supportive of whatever path Titan decides to take, including show business.
“If he wants to look through that world or pursue it, I’d absolutely encourage it. But would I want to be a showbiz mom pushing him into it? No,” Francesca said, reflecting on her own upbringing.
“My parents didn’t do that to me, and I’m grateful for it. I wouldn’t want to do that to him either. I do think the industry has changed a lot … Child stars today seem to be turning out a lot less haunted.”
“If he wants to be an athlete, he can be an athlete. If he wants to be a scientist, he can be a scientist. Whatever he wants,” she added.
Francesca credits her father for being “the most supportive” parent throughout her own career. “[Clint] is great about giving me advice but letting me find my own way. Whether I make good or bad decisions, he’s always allowed me to grow and learn on my own,” she said.
However, Francesca admitted that coparenting with Titan’s father, Alexander Wraith, while balancing their careers can be challenging. Finding a system where they both support each other’s work while ensuring Titan is taken care of has been a process.
“We’re getting there,” Francesca said about their coparenting dynamic. “There’s always room for improvement.”
