Frozen 3 may not be hitting theaters until Thanksgiving 2027, but according to Josh Gad, the wait will be well worth it.
During his appearance on the Jan. 16 episode of The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw podcast, Gad—who voices Olaf, the beloved magical talking snowman in the Frozen franchise—shared that while he can’t divulge too much about the highly anticipated third installment, fans have plenty to look forward to.
“Anything that I have seen or know I will have been sworn to secrecy on,” Gad, 43, admitted.
However, the Book of Mormon Broadway alum did provide some insight into why audiences will have to wait several more years before revisiting Arendelle.
“Here’s what I can tell you,” he continued. “There’s a reason the movie is coming out in 2027. And that is because no one wants to rush this. Everyone wants this to not just be a sequel or a money grab. They want this to be absolutely worthy of the story we set out to make in 2013 [in the first Frozen movie].”

“And we want to give audiences something that is worth the years of waiting and years of anticipation. And I know that they are actively working on that. And I know that they have a story that they are very, very, very excited about.”
“And beyond that, I think I’ll have Disney lawyers knocking down my door. But buckle up because I think they have something incredible in store,” he concluded.
The original Frozen, featuring the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Jonathan Groff, premiered in 2013 and quickly became one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time. Its sequel, Frozen 2, debuted in 2019 and also shattered box office records.

The first Frozen film also inspired a hit Broadway musical adaptation, which opened in March 2018. The stage production, still running, features music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, with a book by Jennifer Lee.
Several members of the Frozen cast have spoken about how the films changed their lives—and how no one could have predicted the franchise’s massive global impact.
“I don’t think anyone can foresee the box office—like—craziness that it hit,” Bell, 44, said during an appearance on The Ellen Show in 2014.
“But I’ll tell you, when we were making it, there was a part of me that was, going, like, ‘This is really special,’” she continued.

“I’ve been a part of a lot of things, but it just felt so unique, and I’m so proud of it. Because it’s just—unlike anything they’ve [Disney] ever done. And it’s not about romantic love. It’s about believing in someone even when they don’t believe in themselves.”
