Celebrity Big Brother aired its inaugural eviction this evening, bidding farewell to one of its stars.Tonight, the eviction nominees were Gary Goldsmith and Lauren Simon.
The public exercised their voting power to determine who would remain in the house. Gary, the uncle of the Princess of Wales, found himself on the eviction list after receiving a killer nomination from Sharon Osbourne.
Meanwhile, Lauren was selected by fellow housemates through the traditional nomination process.
The public’s decision on who to evict from the Celebrity Big Brother house was finally revealed, leaving the remaining housemates stunned by the departure of a significant personality from the ITV reality show.
Many fans had anticipated Lauren’s potential exit, following a voting mishap where some realized they had to vote to save, not to evict.
As Gary and Lauren joined the live segment, they were met with a barrage of boos from the audience.
The atmosphere remained tense as Gary was ultimately ousted from the show, prompting him to engage in discussions with AJ Odudu and Will Best amidst the ongoing disapproval from the crowd.
Speaking about his conversations on the royals in his exit interview, he said:
“To be fair, people were asking me about it but they didn’t know what else I was. Why are you here if not for that – people were asking me a lot of questions because they didn’t know what to ask. I did volunteer a lot – but hey you caught me. I wanted to change what people think of me and who I was.
“It does hurt for when you’re always referred to being a ‘bad uncle’. I wanted to change that. What an opportunity to have a sneaky peek behind the world of celebrity.
I’ve tried to be myself, chuck in a royal thing a little too often. It was interesting to see an insight into their world. In my world, I am centre of attention but this is a different level.”
Upon learning about her nomination last night, Lauren was overcome with devastation. In a candid moment within the Diary Room, she confided in Big Brother, expressing,
“I’m obviously a bit tired. I’m emotional. It was a bit of a shock but I knew that we’ve all voted and someone had to leave. I’m having such a nice time. I feel that there’s obviously more than two people who have voted for me in that room.”
“I’m struggling with not knowing who it is. I don’t like living with snakes. I am who I am. I try to be the best I can be and get on with everybody. But I suppose I’m marmite, you love me or you hate me.”
