Steve Burton, best known for his role on General Hospital, has announced his engagement to girlfriend Michelle Lundstrom.
On Saturday, January 4, Burton, 54, shared the news via Instagram with a heartfelt caption and a series of photos from their engagement. One image captured the moment Burton got down on one knee to propose. His post read:
“Engaged 1/3/25.”
Burton also shared a verse from the Bible:
“Jeremiah 29:11. ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”
The couple’s announcement quickly garnered congratulations from fans and Burton’s General Hospital co-stars. Rick Hearst, a fellow cast member, wrote: “Steve and Michelle, I wish you both a long, loving, and fruitful life together! Congratulations!”
Another co-star, Finola Hughes, expressed her joy by commenting, “Congratulations! I wish you both all the happiness in the future, you are a wonderful couple! Congratulations, Michelle!”
Burton had been married to Sheree Gustin from 1999 until their separation in 2022. They share three children: daughters Makena and Brooklyn, and son Jack.
Their split made headlines in May 2022 when it was revealed that Gustin was expecting a child with another man. The pair had separated legally in March of that year. At the time, Burton posted an online message to clarify:
“I wanted to clear something up. Sheree and I are separated. She recently announced that she’s expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine. We are still co-parenting our three beautiful kids. We would appreciate privacy at this time. Much luv, Steve.”
In February 2023, Gustin welcomed her fourth child, daughter Izabella, though the father’s identity has not been disclosed. She gave birth to her fifth child, daughter Addy, in February 2024.
Burton and Lundstrom confirmed their relationship in May 2024, and they made their red carpet debut at the Daytime Emmy Awards in June.
Lundstrom shared her excitement about the night on Instagram, saying, “Our first red carpet together. It was a dream of a night from beginning to end. Thank you for all the beautiful, kind comments & messages. I’m truly grateful.”
In response to the photo, Burton’s General Hospital co-star Kirsten Storms commented, “You are so cute together, this photo is almost hard to look at.”
