Kellyanne Conway and George Conway, who have been married since 2001, have announced their separation. They stated in a joint statement that they are in the “final stages of an amicable divorce.” The news was shared by George Conway on X.
“We married more than two decades ago, cherish the many happy years (and four corgis) we’ve shared, and above all else, our four incredible children, who remain the heartbeat of our family and our top priority,” they wrote.
The Conways, once seen as a prominent Republican couple, experienced a notable shift in their political alignment with the rise of Donald Trump.
Initially supportive of Trump, George Conway became a vocal critic, while Kellyanne Conway remained a top adviser to Trump, highlighting their growing political divergence.
George Conway used Twitter as a platform for his criticism of Trump, gaining significant attention due to his status as a longtime Republican and husband of a prominent Trump adviser.
In 2019, he co-founded the Lincoln Project with other Trump critics, aiming to challenge Trump’s re-election and influence Republican politics.
Kellyanne Conway served as Trump’s campaign manager before becoming a senior counselor in the White House.
While George Conway was publicly criticizing Trump, Kellyanne was a staunch defender of the president in the media. She left the Trump administration in 2020, prior to the presidential election.
“Our four children are teens and ’tweens starting a new academic year, in middle school and high school, remotely from home for at least a few months,” she said at the time.
“As millions of parents nationwide know, kids ‘doing school from home’ requires a level of attention and vigilance that is as unusual as these times.”
When Kellyanne Conway announced her departure from the White House, she emphasized that despite their political disagreements, she and her husband were “united on what matters most: the kids.”
