A Page Six source claims that Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach tied the knot to cap off the year.
Backstage at Billy Joel’s Madison Square Garden show, the “Barbie” director reportedly broke the good news—that they had recently tied the knot at City Hall. Witnesses saw the couple beaming with happiness and expressing their joy.
Baumbach appeared dapper in his suit, while Gerwig was said to look gorgeous in a white suit skirt and jacket, evoking a bride.
The understated couple, who started dating in 2011 and became engaged in 2020, decided on a low-key celebration, expressing their joy at City Hall and the performance space.
Gerwig had previously expressed her reluctance to use the term “fiance,” noting that it seemed more formal to be discussing an impending wedding, even though they were engaged in 2020.
It is a bug year for Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach
For the couple, this year has been noteworthy not only in terms of their marriage. The film “Barbie” was widely praised and saw significant box office success upon its release, making it one of the year’s most notable cultural events.
Remarkably, Noah Baumbach was first hesitant about the movie, thinking it was a “terrible idea.” “I was just like, ‘I don’t see how this is going to be good at all,'” he recalled, adding that Greta Gerwig convinced him to take on the project. For a while, I kind of blocked it, and every time she brought it up, I would say, “We need to get out of this.”
He finally had second thoughts, though, and said that it had been the most fun they had had together. Afterward, Baumbach acknowledged, “I think this is the best thing we’ve ever written at a certain point.” I always know enough to just do as Greta says.”
In February, they also celebrated the birth of their second child. They did, however, decide to wait a few months to share this information. At four months old, Greta Gerwig referred to the baby with affection, calling him a “little Schmoo” because of his vibrant energy.
Though the child slept through the night, Gerwig experienced what many parents go through, waking up every hour to ninety minutes, looming over the infant, and living in a semi-dreamlike state because of the insatiable need to stare at their new arrival.
