The “Attack on Titan” series ended with a lot of unanswered questions, and the same number of people are left alive inside and outside the giant walls.
The last episode skips ahead three years after the big fight is over, showing that the heroes have built up their military strength on Paradis Island.
Armin and the others, who are now famous for stopping the big disaster, are about to meet with the military leaders to try and put an end to all the fighting for good.
The man who made “Attack on Titan,” Hajime Isayama, decided not to tell us how everything ends. He left it up to the viewers to think about what might happen next.
There’s also a new book coming out that could give more details on the ending. But the story of Eren and his friends is definitely over.
After the credits at the end of the final episode, there’s a scene that hints at what happens next for Paradis Island and perhaps the entire world. It shows that there was probably a big fight that may have destroyed everything.
But people are still around, as we see a child find a big, mysterious tree like the one connected to the beginning of the Titans’ story, which could mean a new adventure might start. We don’t know if the story will continue from here.
In an interview with The New York Times, Isayama shared his thoughts on the conclusion of his story:
“I guess there could have been an ending where it was a happy ending and the war ended and everything was fine and dandy. I guess that could have been possible.”
“At the same time, the end of fighting and the end of contention itself kind of seems hokey.”
Expanding on this perspective, he added,
“It kind of seems like it’s not even believable. It’s just not plausible in the world we’re living in right now. And so, sadly, I had to give up on that kind of happy ending.”
