Netflix dropped a trailer on Christmas Day for the highly anticipated Happy Gilmore 2, starring Adam Sandler, marking the sequel to the beloved 1996 comedy classic.
Adam Sandler took to Twitter with a holiday greeting: “Happy Chanukah! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! And Happy Gilmore to all!!!!!!” along with a link to the trailer.
The trailer featured a cameo from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who has recently expanded his entertainment career, hosting Are You Smarter than a Celebrity on Prime Video and appearing in Grotesquerie on FX.
Julie Bowen will reprise her role as Gilmore’s love interest, Virginia Venit, while Christopher McDonald returns as the memorable Shooter McGavin.
New cast members in the sequel include Kelce, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Nick Swardson, Kid Cudi, and Benny Safdie. Kyle Newacheck is set to direct.
Rapper Eminem will also make a cameo in the film. Sandler shared on The Dan Patrick Show in early December, “I’ve known Eminem for a long time, and he’s a great guy.
He came in and was funny as hell. I think we just hung out a day with Eminem and just shot and shot, and it was insane. He said a million things we can use.”
Additionally, Sandler confirmed that legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus would also appear in the film, noting, “All these great golfers came by” to film a scene. Although the release date is not yet finalized, Sandler mentioned that Happy Gilmore 2 is expected to arrive on Netflix in July 2025.
